Hot Stone Massage

A hot stone massage is a type of massage therapy. It is used to help you relax and ease tense muscles and damaged soft tissues throughout your body. During a hot stone massage, smooth, flat, heated stones are placed on specific parts of your body. The stones are usually made of basalt, a type of volcanic rock that retains heat.

Please note: This massage is not recommended for anyone who has diabetes, high blood pressure or is on blood-thinning medication.

Benefits

This is the best massage method for those who have pain, muscle tension or want to relax the body. This massage helps to soothe muscle tension, improve blood flow and relieve pain by using hot stones. It also helps promote relaxation and reduce stress for you. Massage with essential oils.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a rejuvenating massage technique which uses deep pressure by combining slow strokes and notable finger pressure to release the tension and tightness held deeply in the muscles and the connective tissues. It is used to alleviate aches, muscle pains, muscle tension and anxiety from musculoskeletal issues. It typically focuses on areas of discomfort such as the back, neck, shoulders, legs and arms.

Benefits

Note that the biggest after effects of a deep tissue massage are sleepiness and thirst. It is recommended to drink water, relax and go to bed. It is not unusual to get a headache or feel slightly nauseous as this has to do with toxins on the move in your body. However, deep tissue massage is safe for most people but should be avoided if you have clotting issues or osteoporosis.

Thai Massage

Thai Massage is also known as Thai Yoga Massage which combines assisted yoga with acupressure techniques. The therapist will incorporate yogic stretching movements as they knead and press muscles along the body’s energy lines with the hands and feet. A Thai massage treatment typically begins at the feet with the client lying face down and is more energetic and rigorous than your usual massage. The therapist will also often use their hands and feet to apply pressure, and the treatment usually is done through the clothes, although oils and lotions can sometimes be used if requested.

Benefits

After a Thai massage, a person may feel very relaxed. However, they need to keep in mind that their muscles have been stretched, worked and prodded. After a Thai massage, a person should relax and drink plenty of water. People should try to incorporate daily maintenance routines that involve stretching and relaxation techniques as this will help them remain flexible for a long time after their massage; however, there are no guidelines for how often a person should get a Thai massage.

Please note the following advice:

  • Try to be ready 10 minutes early to fill out any paperwork before the appointment.
  • Inform the practitioner about any significant medical history, because Thai massage is not safe for some people with certain health conditions.
  • Come to the appointment wearing loose-fitting or athletic clothing. Try to avoid tight clothing because it can cause discomfort and limit the range of motion during the massage.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils for certain benefits. Examples include lavender, orange and bergamot, and eucalyptus. These “aromas” are all plant-based derivatives from herbs, tree extracts, and flowers. Essential oils are extremely concentrated so to be used correctly they should be diluted into milder oils, humidifiers, or lotions.

The overall purpose of aromatherapy is meant to improve your physical and mental well-being.

It leaves the skin feeling fresh, nourished, smooth, moisturised and soft to promote a feeling of relaxation and well-being. An abrasive product is rubbed vigorously, and massaged across and into your skin, and is then rinsed away to reveal a moisturised layer of fresh, clean and smooth skin. Body scrub or polishing products usually include an oily base which moisturises and soothes your skin as it is scrubbed.

Precautions

Scrubs and body polishes are suitable and safe for just about everyone! It’s not an invasive treatment. However, kindly seek therapist advice if you have any medical condition as with all spa treatments, skin condition or allergic to anything. Anyone with broken, fragile or sunburnt skin is advised to skip this treatment as scrub may hurt a broken skin than heal it.
